Nearly a third of our life is spent with our brains turned off and our bodies tucked in bed, sleeping. Additionally, take into account how much time is spent at either work or school: at least another third. Finally, think about the other little things that occupy your life; simple things like eating or showering. We truly don’t have much time to do what we love to do. Rather than taking everything life presents us with, we can actively choose to shape and form a life for ourselves.

As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives.
— Henry David Thoreau

Just like I had previously written about in my post about being Impatient, it is good to live out your short days here on earth with an aggressive lifestyle.  We can fill our free time with meaningful and constructive adventures, pursuing everything we love and avoiding the mundane realities that will be present regardless of what we do. Too often we dismiss our own dreams and tuck them away just because the end goal is distant. Each day, live aggressively and chip away at the walls that you have put up. Put purpose behind every step you take in this life, and walk towards your own goals. Happiness will not only come from the goals you reach, but also with the pursuit that comes with it.

Live aggressively.

Put purpose in your step.

Be happy.

Many people go through life living just on the surface. They see a world as 2-D and fail to understand the depth that this life can have. The influences around us in this world are often seen as simple and straightforward, because the world we live in is very selective in what is shown publicly. But hidden inside of everyone is a unique being that is vastly different from any other person. People try to mask their character and emotions to appeal to everyone around them.

Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you.
— Oprah Winfrey

Failure to understand yourself and failure to portray your innermost emotions can lead to a dysfunctional lifestyle, or a presence that lacks significance. If you don’t love working with numbers, don’t become a corporate drone. If you don’t enjoy physical labor, don’t slave your body away. If you’re not fond of extensive amounts of schooling and pressure, don’t work in the medical field. Rather, find the talents and passions that are hidden inside of you. Try everything. At least once. Each and every experience can reveal a love of yours that you did not know had existed. Do more, and become more. Find joy in the pursuit, and joyfully pursue what you enjoy.

Reveal the hidden.

Find what you love.

Be happy.
