Opportunity

It seems that many people are under the impression that they never have had, and never will have, the opportunity to become “successful.” They look at other’s success with envy, choosing to believe that success comes from nothing but good look. Yet, while this jealousy is consuming their lives, they fail to see the vast amount of opportunities that are presented to them. Everyday we are given the chance to do something new, to work towards something greater, and to be something more.

Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.
— Thomas Edison

Taking action in this life is the only reliable way to move forward. How many times have you thought to yourself, “I wish I would have started yesterday.” This can be discouraging to think about sometimes; we continue to think about the negatives in our inability to act, and lose time that could have been spent working. Learn to allow this frantic push to encourage you to keep doing, rather than letting it hold you back. My encouragement to all of you is to start something new today. Start something that you will be eager to work towards every single day. Start something that drives you. Start something that forces you to wake up each morning and jump out of bed. Start something you love. Give yourself an opportunity that you can grasp, and give yourself a meaning to live every day.

Find opportunities.

Work at what you love.

Be happy.

Aggressive

Nearly a third of our life is spent with our brains turned off and our bodies tucked in bed, sleeping. Additionally, take into account how much time is spent at either work or school: at least another third. Finally, think about the other little things that occupy your life; simple things like eating or showering. We truly don’t have much time to do what we love to do. Rather than taking everything life presents us with, we can actively choose to shape and form a life for ourselves.

As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives.
— Henry David Thoreau

Just like I had previously written about in my post about being Impatient, it is good to live out your short days here on earth with an aggressive lifestyle.  We can fill our free time with meaningful and constructive adventures, pursuing everything we love and avoiding the mundane realities that will be present regardless of what we do. Too often we dismiss our own dreams and tuck them away just because the end goal is distant. Each day, live aggressively and chip away at the walls that you have put up. Put purpose behind every step you take in this life, and walk towards your own goals. Happiness will not only come from the goals you reach, but also with the pursuit that comes with it.

Live aggressively.

Put purpose in your step.

Be happy.
