Aaron's Senior Pictures | West Bend, Wisconsin

After taking photos of Aaron twice, I wish I could convince him to book yet another session. :) I, like I always say, had a great time photographing this young man. He's got a contagious energy and witty humor that makes the time fly by. Usually people won't be willing to let a teenage boy jump over them with a scooter in the local skate park, but Aaron was all for it! Shots like those are the ones that keep my job interesting!

For Aaron's pictures, we decided to stay in the West Bend area because we knew of a great little mini waterfall that would make for a great light painting picture by night, and a great backdrop by day.  Using shade and some off camera flash we were able to get some really nice and balanced photos. I've noticed that posing guys has quickly become one of my most difficult tasks. To counter the recycling of simple poses (hands in pockets, arms crossed, hands together) I've started to more actively seek out entertaining backgrounds and more creative compositions overall.

Kylie's Senior Pictures | Germantown, Wisconsin

Having a shoot like I did with Kylie reminds me of why I got into photography in the first place. We had so much fun getting to know each other and joking around. We first started our shoot in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. We scoped out the area and walked around, stopping in front of anything that looked like it could potentially be a good backdrop. We even got yelled at at one point for "invading" a storage space of a local restaurant. I had my girlfriend, Sharla, hold my Yongnuo 560-III flash in position, and we shot through a white umbrella. I used the light in the first part of the shoot to add a more moody, dramatic look to these pictures. I love how the colors turned out in contrast with what Kylie was wearing. The second part of our shoot took place at our high school, because we wanted to use the football field for some cheerleading pictures, and the forest/swamp area that was also on the property. This time around I wanted some brighter, lighter pictures to contrast with the first set. We made use of the sun when we could, and I used my speed light this time simple to fill in some shadows. All in all, I had a blast with these shoots, and many laughs were shared.
